Joe Nathan Gets 300th Save

joe_nathan_topps_2013_series_1Last night Joe Nathan of the Texas Rangers became the 22nd player in MLB History to record his 300th save,  Nathan did it in his 13th MLB season and moved into a 3-way tie with Jason Isringhausen (16 seasons) and Bruce Sutter (13 seasons).  He started his career with the San Francisco Giants (1999-2000, 2002-2003) and has played with the Minnesota Twins (2004-2009, 2011) before joining the Texas Rangers in 2012.  He is 38 years old, so don’t look for him to challenge Mariano Rivera’s record of 609 (as of  4/9/2013) but there is no reason to think he cannot break into the Top 10 all-time.  Rollie Fingers currently is in the 10th spot with 341 saves.
