For the second time in three games, Brandon Belt went deep against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This time the home run gave the Giants the lead late in the game. In the top of the 8th inning, Belt came to the plate with runners on first (Gregor Blanco) and second (Hunter Pence) and the Giants losing 6-4. With an 0-2 count, and two outs, Belt came through big in the clutch, hitting his 3rd home run of the year and giving the Giants a 7-6 lead. The Giants would hold on for the 9-6 win and move to 16-12 on the season.
With the sweep of the series against the Diamondbacks complete the Giants moved into sole possession of second place, 1/2 game back of the Colorado Rockies (one full game if the Rockies hold out and beat the Los Angeles Dodgers). The Giants begin a 3-game series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers (13-13) starting May 3rd.
