The Giants didn’t do much for the first 6 innings against Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Kershaw had the no-hitter going until Marco Scutaro tripled with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. After Pablo Sandoval failed to bring him across, Buster Posey doubled in Scutaro to even the score at 1. With the score still tied at 1 in the bottom of the ninth, Buster Posey connected for his first game winning home run (first ever game winning RBI of any kind) off Ronald Belisario who had not allowed a run in his previous four appearances over six innings.
The Giants took the first game of the three game series and won their fourth straight baseball game. They improve to 17-12 and move into a tie for first palce with the Colorado Rockies.
I plan on creating a tribute 1974 Topps card for a player each time the Giants win this season. The 1974 Topps is one of my favorites being it was the year I was born. I am also going to attempt (fingers crosses) at completing the base set from that year. Look for my introduction to that project on my blog tomorrow! Good night!
