Will Clark Player Collection

Came home today to find some cards in my mailbox.  I ordered a some cards from Burbank Sportcards in Burbank, California for my Milestone Collections and needed to order a few extra cards to save on some shipping charges.  So I picked up 5 Will Clark cards I was missing from collection.

Will Clark – 1986 Donruss Rookies

1986_donruss_the_rookies_32_will_clarkThe 1986 Donruss Rookies was Donruss’s first such set (1986-’92 and 2001-’03) focusing exclusively on players who made their Major League debut during the 1986 baseball season.  It was similar to the 1986 Donruss set except for the placement of “The Rookies” logo in the lower left hand corner of the card and a bluish green border instead of the blue.

During my childhood/teenage days of collecting cards the 1986 Donruss Rookies Will Clark (#32) was part of my collection.  Over the years it disappeared and I was on the lookout for another one.  The search wasn’t too hard once I clicked on eBay.  I found an auction for two of them, made a bid and they arrived today.

Other notable players in the set include Wally Joyner (#1), Andres Galarraga (#7), Barry Bonds (#11 – $12.00), Kevin Mitchell (#17), Jose Canseco (#22 – $4.00), Bobby Bonilla (#30), Bo Jackson (#38 – $5.00), John Kruk (#42 – $1.50), and Ruben Sierra (#52 – $1.50).  I think at one time or another I collected all these players!

Here is my current Will Clark Player Collection Checklist, which I am still building!

Will Clark Player Collection

1988_donruss_21_will_clark_dkI have started to inventory my Will Clark collection.  Looking at the plethora of cards in my Will Clark box (soon to be my Will Clark binder) I thought I had a lot of them.  But after an inventory of 1986 and 1987 I realize I don’t have as many as thought and have some work to do.  Now I am pretty good on base set cards in his early years, it is the oddballs I am lacking.  That just means I am going to have some fun tracking them down right?  Like I mentioned I have just completed the inventory on 1986 and 1987, will work on more tonight.

Update (June 3, 2013) – Inventoried all the way up to 1992.

Have a great day!

Will Clark 2013 Topps Museum Collection

Added a few cards to my Will Clark collection from the 2013 Topps Museum Collection.  The Topps Museum Collection, a 100-card set, was released on April 15, 2013.  The Will Clark cards I added were the Copper Parallel #76 and the Canvas Collection #CC-26.

Realistically I should be able to add the Base Set Card #76, Green Parallel #76 and Blue Parallel #76 to my collection in the near future but the red parallel (one-of-one)/autographs/patches/relics may be out of reach!

The Will Clark Project

1986 Fleer Update Will Clark

I am taking a little break from the 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen box break!  So you may have read in a previous post that my all-time favorite player when I was younger was Will Clark.  I had a pretty good collection of Will Clark cards in my younger card collecting days.  When all my cards were packed away I assumed my Clark cards ended up in one of the boxes I used to store all my cards in.  When I dug those boxes out a few weeks ago I noticed my Clark collection was a little thin.  That needed to be fixed so I logged into eBay and started searching for some deals.  I found, bid, and won a few auctions.  In total I was able to secure 19 cards from the 1986-1987-1988 time period for around $6.00.  It comes out to about .30 cents a card when you do the math.  Well a few days after I won the eBay auctions and prior to the cards arriving in my mailbox I got a call from my mom.  She saw a post on Facebook about me purchasing some cards and said she found a binder full of cards in her closet a while back and asked if I wanted it.  Well of course I do!  I asked what were some of the names of the players in the binder.  Her reply was, “it’s full of a guy named Will Clark”.  I had to chuckle a little because the cards I just purchased are in the binder I am pretty sure!  So my Will Clark cards should be arriving in a few days and I will embark on what I am calling The Will Clark Project.  Just my fancy name for collecting as many cards as possible from my favorite player!  I will create a page just for TWCP so everyone can see how I am coming along.
